LCB League

The LCB was founded on May of 1989 and organizes the professsional basketball competitions in Portugal since August of 1995 according to the sports law, and administrates independently all the professional competions.

LCB is also a member of the Portuguese Basketball Federation

Each season there are three main competitions organized by the LCB:

The League Championship (named as LIGA TMN) with a regular sesaon (2 rounds, home and away games) and play-off series (the best 8 teams qualified for the play-offs, all rounds best of 5 games.

The "Taça da liga" League Cup best 8 teams of the first round of the regular season qualifyed for the Finals, Played durind a 4-day competition.

The All Star Game, two teams (Nothern and Southern) with the best portuguese and foreign players.

The LCB as agreements with two television operators (RTP - open system operator ) and (SPORT TV - cable system operator) that televised neerly 70 games per season.

Basketball is the second most popular sport in Portugal after Football, according to several independent surveys.
